Rider-Waite Tarot Divination Cards

The "Rider-Waite Tarot" was created in 1910 by Arthur Edward Waite. The illustrations for the cards were done under Waite's guidance by Pamela Colman Smith, an English artist of American origin. The deck's first publisher was William Rider from London, which is why the deck is named after both the publisher and the primary author.
Waite, who was once a member of a mystical order, created this deck to serve as a guide to the unseen. Today, there are more than 100 million copies of the Rider-Waite Tarot deck worldwide. The spreads using the Rider-Waite deck act as a conduit for peering into the unknown through Tarot.

Meanings of Each Suit, Group, and Card of the Rider-Waite Tarot

The 22 named cards, each with its own number, make up the Major Arcana. The exception is The Fool. The word "arcana" refers to hidden meaning, indicating that the Tarot cards carry an original storyline that should be taken into account when interpreting a spread.

The Tarot cards of the Suit of Swords are considered the third suit and represent the element of Air. The Suit of Swords embodies aspects of harshness and relentlessness. At the same time, the element of this suit carries a sense of freshness and clarity, though it can also be sharp and, at times, even merciless.

Minor Arcana
The Minor Arcana of Tarot, representing the element of Earth. In readings, this suit most often signifies material wealth, the pursuit of power, and social status. Pentacles in spreads primarily represent gain and success in all areas of life.

The fact that we question whether Tarot is a method or a doctrine reveals the limitations of our "three-dimensional mind," which is unable to rise above the world of form and contradictions or free itself from thesis and antithesis. Yes, Tarot contains and expresses any teaching that can be found in our consciousness, and in this sense, it has a certain definiteness. It represents nature in all its richness of infinite possibilities, and within it, as in nature, there is not just one, but all potential meanings. These meanings are fluid and constantly changing, which is why Tarot cannot be specifically one thing or another—it is always in motion, yet always remains the same
